Our projects are delivered over 12 to 14 weeks and participants are encouraged to attend all sessions. Outreach work is carried out to ensure that any obstacles that may influence attendance to sessions are dealt with and removed where possible –in partnership with local voluntary groups and agencies. It is also important that the realistic and attainable rewards of participation in the projects are discussed at the end of every session and mutually understood.
Joining Hands intends to work with multiple partners in the work we do. It is our intention that every learner is valued, respected and empowered. We aim to create an atmosphere where individuals are encouraged to become goal driven, aspired, persistent in their pursuit of venture, original in problem solving, driven to exercise initiative in social situations, ready to absorb interpersonal stress and willingness to accept the consequences of their decisions and actions, and to tolerate frustration. We believe that all participants who complete a project are, in turn, capable of stimulating and leading others around them to work hard and make their ideas a reality, themselves becoming role models, teachers and trainers when they have gained the experience.
Joining Hands will work with individuals to give them to tools and resources necessary to achieve in all aspects of life. As adult staff, we will not abdicate our responsibility to provide effective leadership and good policy. In our projects, we will help create conditions where participants can develop their vision, practise decision making, exercise judgment, and grow in leadership.
