Edexcel’s NVQs (Levels 2 and 3) in Customer Service are aimed at individuals working in, or seeking to work in, a variety of customer service settings. These may include the hospitality industry, medical reception, front-of-house settings in business and banking, or non face-to-face areas such as call centres. The customer service sector is exciting, full of interest and provides challenge and reward for all who work in it.
Edexcel’s Advice and Guidance NVQs, at levels 2 and 3 , are aimed at individuals working in any setting that involves advice and guidance; for example, advice centres or training establishments. These qualifications are likely to be suitable for you if you are working as a customer service advisor, help desk advisor or careers advisor. Possible career routes include progression to the role of customer service manager, careers guidance manager or counsellor.
The NVQs in Health and Social Care, available at levels 2, 3 and 4, are aimed at individuals working with either older people or children and young people in essential care environments, day care settings or palliative care. They are also suitable for those working with people with learning disabilities or challenging behaviour, as well as those in more supervisory positions with greater autonomy and authority. Progression routes and career opportunities for individuals employed in this sector include Registered Manager roles and nursing.
The NVQ in Children’s Care, Learning and Development is aimed at individuals working, or seeking to work, in nurseries, schools, crèche facilities, children’s centres or children’s services, or as childminders, nannies, team leaders or holiday representatives on cruise ships or in hotels. It covers work with children from 0 to 16. There are three levels (2 and 3), and the level will depend on the job role. Career opportunities in this sector include teaching, social work, playwork, health visiting, paediatric nursing, nursery management or training, and inspection.
Edexcel’s Assessor NVQs, at levels 3 and 4, are necessary if you wish to verify assessment decisions using other NVQs. The Assessor (A1) award is single free-standing unit.
Edexcel’s Verifier NVQs, at level 3, is necessary if you wish to verify assessment decisions using other NVQs. The internal verifier (V1) award is single free-standing unit.
Edexcel's Management NVQs, at levels 2, 3 and 4, are applicable across all business sectors and organisations and are aimed at individuals who are in management positions and who are keen to develop their management skills.
Each level is linked to the manager's work role. Level 4 is for middle managers, and level 3 is suitable for supervising managers. At level 2, the NVQ in Team Leading is suitable for those responsible for supervising and managing others in an operational role. It offers an excellent opportunity to develop skills such as working with others, managing oneself, and coordinating the work of others.
The NVQ in Playwork is aimed at individuals working in or seeking to gain employment in out-of-school work, including after-school or breakfast clubs and seasonal holiday clubs. They may be working as playworkers or assistant playworkers, or as children’s holiday representatives. The qualification, which covers work with children aged 5 to 14, is also suitable for those wanting to work in children’s centres or children’s services. There are two levels (2 and 3), and the level will depend on the job role.
