The success of Joining Hands projects lie not only with the creators, but the way in which participants support it.
Joining Hands’ projects are set up in such way that, once the participants and user groups have been involved and have learnt about the project and how to manage them, they are able to continue with the project without the interference of Joining Hands. However, support is always available should the groups managing the projects need it and ask for it.
Not only are workshop participants now able to engage with the wider community with confidence, several Stronger Together participants have been headhunted for their sewing skills and now receive sustainable income through self employment and commissions.

The sewing workshops started on the 7th June 2010 at Fusion, Healthy Living Centre in Parkwood. A designer label - Younique Designs - has approached Joining Hands with the view of working with us to produce home furninshings and children's clothing under their label. This is very exciting as it will give us the opportunity to expand our social enterprise arm. Please come and join us, have fun and be part of an exciting project.
Our one day sewing workshop at Heather House, Park Wood, Maidstone, was a great success. It was lovely to see children as young as 4 participating, as well as mums, dads, young boys and girls. We thank you for spending the day with us. A big thank you also to Maidstone Housing Trust for making it possible.

On Tuesday 2nd February 2010, the Joining Hands group ran a sewing workshop from the Maidstone Housing Trust Resources Centre in Shepway. The theme of the day was Valentines Day and the participants made gifts using hearts and an array of fabrics to make gifts for their partners, husbands and boyfriends. We would like to extend a special thank you to Angela Creighton at Fusion in Park Wood for making this happen and Steve McGlen of Maidstone Housing Trust for offering the use of the Resource Centre.
