Web design project
In a technological age, no business can make an important impact without a website and presence on social networking media.
The web design project is 14 Session Project. Participants in the project will develop their business idea, design a logo, map a design for the website, gradually construct their site using media such as You Tube, Flash Player, hyperlinks and downloading photographs for example. By the end of the project, participants will have a professional 4 page site that they may use to promote their web design business or any other business they choose to undertake. They will also have a Twitter Page and a Facebook Page to be able to reach their customers.
Learners will be given a business mentor who will work with them to ensure continuity. They will design and order their own business cards and learn the basics of marketing. It is possible that we may, with help from our partners, be able to place these participants in either apprenticeships or paid work if they do desire.
Information will be given to participants about further courses and training available to them. Should they decide to start a partnership or co-operative, organisations such as Princes Trust, Co-operatives UK, Women’s Wisdom, the Chamber of Commerce, the Federation of Small Businesses and Business Link will be at hand to help with grants, advice and training.
Upon successful completion of the project (successful completion entails 80% attendance and submission of all projects, attendance to business sessions is mandatory), each participant will receive a laptop (minimum 160GB, 1GB RAM), an 8GB memory stick, and a specialist web design software such as Dreamweaver. If participants do not have access to broadband, we will be looking at either a mobile broadband package for them or equipping a work space for them.
