A small update…

The last few weeks for Joining Hands have been somewhat hectic but with exciting events and interesting opportunities ahead it has been easy to remain motivated. The Web Design Project in Folkestone finished the fourteen sessions but is still ongoing with many of the young people still working hard to improve what we have done so far.

We are now less than one month away from the Auction of Promises event on the 6th of November and things are slowly coming together. We are still receiving some donations but are on the look out for more to make sure the event is really special. The Joining Hands team has been busy with the task of selling both tickets for the event and raffle tickets as well as doing our best to promote the event.

The team is going on some courses in the near future to enable us to provide more services and to improve on the work Joining Hands does. In the next two weeks we are seeing a specialist to help us with Tendering and two members of the team will be undertaking a course to help young people with financial advice.

We will be in the Chequers Centre in Maidstone on the 20th of October to advertise what we do and to do some research into what services are wanted by the community; it will also give us an opportunity network with other organizations. Feel free to pop in and meet some of the team.

If you are interested in raffle tickets for prizes including a HD TV and a ride in a Hot Air Balloon or in attending the Auction of Promises please call us on 0800 612 3328 or email info@joininghandskent.co.uk.

Joining Hands will have two stands at the Family Fun Day at the Folkestone Academy.

Sewing Workshop in Park Wood

Our one day sewing workshop at Heather House, Park Wood, Maidstone, was a great success. It was lovely to see children as young as 4 participating, as well as mums, dads, young boys and girls. We thank you for spending the day with us. A big thank you also to Maidstone Housing Trust for making it possible.

Sewing Workshop in Shepway – February 2010

On Tuesday 2nd February 2010, the Joining Hands group ran a sewing workshop from the Maidstone Housing Trust Resources Centre in Shepway. The theme of the day was Valentines Day and the participants made gifts using hearts and an array of fabrics to make gifts for their partners, husbands and boyfriends. We would like to extend a special thank you to Angela Creighton at Fusion in Park Wood for making this happen and Steve McGlen of Maidstone Housing Trust for offering the use of the Resource Centre.
